Pages Read: 1 Cor. 6-10
Prompt: In few sentences, summarize what you read today.
Today I read from the bible, although I have been reading To Kill A Mockingbird and Oogy. I decided to read the bible and do a blog for it this week. For those unfamiliar with the bible, 1 Corinthians is a book in the New Testament; the bible has two testaments, old and new. The Old consist of Moses, Abraham, Noah, Jonah etc. The New introduces the birth of Jesus, John and the disciples. It also includes the end of the world in Revelations. Anyways in 1st Corinthians it talks about the "lawsuit among believers", "sexual immorality", "concerning married life", "concerning change of status", "concerning of the unmarried", "concerning food sacrificed to idols", Paul, and "self discipline."
Right away in chapter 6, verse 1 "if any of you has a dispute with one another, do you dare to take it before the ungodly for judgement instead of before the Lord's people?" To simplify this verse, lets say I loan my brother 200 dollars for him and his daughter, and he never gives me the money back. Should I take this to court in front of the ungodly, who will give me an ungodly answer? Or should I take it to the Lord's people who will give me a godly answer and will have the Lord's approval? In chapter six it also talks about how we take a lawsuit to the wrongdoers trying to be correct, why not stay wrong and admit to your wrongs? Instead of admitting to our wrongs we decide to cheat ourselves and loved ones. It goes on to say "or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God?" Anyone who does wrong will not be entering into the kingdom of God, for in John 14:6 "Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." The only way you can get into heaven is if you repent and accept Jesus into your life.
In chapter nine, "self discipline" is explained. The bible says that like a runner running in a race they all have a goal; the finish line. They race to get a crown that doesn't last, a crown that will perish when they do, a crown that will only last a short period. However, we Christians run a race that will earn us a crown that will last forever. A crown that will surely die with us and follow us into the gates of Heaven. In verse 26 it says "therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating air..." We as Christians need to run for a goal, not only Christians but everyone else too! If you are going to school and you don't have goal, your running aimlessly, and your going to end up crashing. This is what I read today:)

Blog for Mon. November 8th "Oogy"
Date: Mon. Nov. 8th
Pages Read: 0-43
Prompt: Predict what will happen next.
"Diane took him home to begin fostering him for adoption," is where I left off in the book. I think the next thing that will happen is the author Larry Levin and his boys will come to put his cat down to sleep (I know this because it says that on the back of the book) they will see Oogy and want to adopt him. I think this because (like I said earlier) this is how they meet Oogy, I also think this because of the sentence stated above. She took Oogy in to begin taking care of him so he could be ready to adopt leading me to think if the adoption will soon take place.
I also think that Oogy will have to go into another surgery, I have no textual evidence but it happens in a lot of movies and books about animals. How the animal is doing perfectly fine and then tragedy strikes and they have to get a surgery otherwise they don't live. It's kind of like Dolphin Tale 2 when Winter and Panama are getting along fine and Winter finely adapts to her tale. Then like the so cliché plot twist Panama ends up dying. I say this connection because it is a prediction I have to Oogy. I think he is like going to get adopted or something by Larry and his twins and then he is going to need another surgery.
I also predict that Noah and Dan (Larry Levin's twin boys) are adopted. I think this because many people who adopt animals with special needs usually have a purpose. I mean besides the fact that "OMG the animal is soooo cute, like totally!!" I think this because Oogy is a dog who needs special attention and needs to be treated correctly and needs to have certain check-ups and vitamins with medicine. Who would adopt a dog like that with so much responsibility added besides the basic responsibility needs.

Weekly Blog Monday Dec 1st "To Kill A Mockingbird"
Title: To Kill A Mockingbird by: Harper Lee
Pages read: 81-146
Prompt: If you could talk to the author, what questions would you ask? Why?
If I were to ask Harper Lee any questions, my first question would be why didn't you write any other book besides To Kill A Mockingbird? I would ask this question because Harper Lee didn't write any other books besides this one, I mean she wrote others but they all had connections to this book. When I looked at research Harper Lee has explained numerous times she did not want to deal with publicity all over again, she also states in an interview with one of her closest friends "...she had said what she wanted to say in To Kill a Mockingbird and didn’t want to say it again." Explaining that what Harper Lee had said To Kill a Mockingbird, she didn't have to say it again. These are two of the many reasons she had listed with further explanations.
How did it feel to get a presidential award? Would be my second question to Ms. Lee because she got a presidential award in 2007 for being involved and declared to her literature. She was given the Presidential Medal of Freedom by George W. Bush. Although throughout my research I could not find any interviews for Ms. Lee about her presidential medal, what do you think Ms. Lee would have said? I think she would say it was an honor to get awarded this medal, she truly truly deserved it. She was awarded November 5th, 2007.
I would also ask her why she wrote To Kill a Mockingbird? According to additional research Ms. Lee lived in a small town in Alabama like the Finches. I also learned that her father was a lawyer like Jem and Scout. I think she wrote this book to get her POV out there, also that she wrote it to make everyone realize what equality meant back then, only men were equal. What do you think she would say?
