AOW Impressions Blog

Topics talked about in the AOW Gallery walk~ Baltimore, and Nepal.

Today, I was only able to go to Siari, and Evie.  Siari's AOW was about the earthquake that took place in Nepal. Siari informed me that approximately 7,000 people have been killed. She also enlightened me that many of the people have been reported missing, and they are not able to be found due to no connection. Furthermore, that there are more people who are missing and killed than estimated because, of the illegals who live in Nepal. I found that this topic was rather depressing. I think that more people should help out with Nepal. A lot of people have been going out to help. One thing that particularly stuck out to me when researching this topic further was, the orphanage that had to evacuate their home. According to other articles, a 19 year old who was previously an orphan was visiting the orphanage and helped Mother Rajan take the kids down the mountain.

Another topic that Evie discussed was the Baltimore riots, that are currently going on. She briefly explained to me that many people have been 'looting' or in other ways stealing from stores they broke into. They have also been throwing objects, i.e. liquor, at cop cars, and have been setting cars and building on fire. I don't think they should be reacting in anger because of this. I mean, before Ferguson, a lot of this happened. White cops killed black teens before Michael Brown. It's just that Michael Brown's case was an eye opener to the country, realizing this wasn't right. Now, every little thing that goes on between Caucasian cops and American-African teenagers blows out of          proportion, like this.
